Discover Pontevedra

Located in the region of Galicia, in northwest Spain, in this province it’s possible to find in a few kilometers both mountains and coast, the ‘Rías Baixas’. Full of places of great beauty and viewpoints around the estuaries, the National Park of Illas Atlánticas and its magnificent beaches stand out.

It is recommendable to go through its Romanesque Route, discover the typical constructions called ‘pazos’ and visit places in Pontevedra such as Marín, with its megalithic monuments; Vilaboa and Poio, with their petroglyphs; A Guarda, Sanxenxo, Cambados or A Illa de Arousa, all with wonderful beaches. It’s also essential the capital city, Pontevedra, and its old town.

The traditions of this region are reflected in festivals such as A Rapa das bestas de Sabucedo, Romería Vikinga of Catoira, Corpus Christi of Ponteareas, A Arribada of Baiona and the Albariño Wine Festival of Cambados, declared of International Tourist Interest. Within the gastronomy of Pontevedra its seafood is very famous (with festivals such as the O Grove’s one), always accompanied by the characteristic wine of this area, Albariño, main character of the Rías Baixas Wine Route.
